Viacom International Media Networks’ today announced that its flagship live music event, the 2012 MTV EMA, will be held in Frankfurt, Germany, a cultural and commercial crossroads of Europe and the world, on November 11. The announcement was made in Frankfurt’s historic city hall, the Römer, by Lord Mayor Petra Roth, Frankfurt city partners and Viacom International Media Networks Northern Europe’s Jin Choi, who talked about the history of the awards and what to expect on the night. Choi also revealed two already confirmed sponsors, Replay and Renaissance Hotels.
The 2012 MTV EMA will see MTV returning to Frankfurt, which hosted the 2001 show featuring emcee Ali G., and bring-the-house-down performances by Kylie Minogue, Mary J. Blige, R.E.M. and Jay-Z, who shared the stage with 100 hastily auditioned Frankfurt girls.
