Viacom UK marked its ongoing support for diversity and inclusion last week as a delegation from Viacom’s Office of Global Inclusion traveled to London to introduce Employee Affinity Groups (EAGs) to our 900 employees based in the UK. Employee Affinity Groups are groups of employees who come together voluntarily to establish more visibility for their identity group and/or constituency.
Open houses were hosted in each of the company’s four offices in Camden, Oxford Street, Rathbone Place and Chiswick, where employees learned about opportunities for professional development and mentoring. Through these open houses more than 400 employees signed up to participate in the first two EAGs to be launched in the UK: Thursday Think, for employees in the early stages of their careers and The Parenthood, for working parents. Additionally, the team collected more than a dozen recommendations for other EAGs to be created for Viacom’s UK employees.
The group, led by Marva Smalls, EVP of Global Inclusion, was welcomed by David Lynn, MD of Viacom International Media Networks UK and a member of Viacom’s Global Inclusion Advisory Committee. As Marva said in her welcome remarks, launching these EAGs creates “diverse and inclusive workforce, where you can “bring your whole self to work – nothing should be left at the door.”
