DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted made its debut at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, bringing together the all-star cast including Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Martin Short and Jessica Chastain. The actors spoke with The Today Show’s Ann Curry about the mix of madness and genius that went into the making of the new 3D animated film. Chris Rock’s particular blend of madness and “limited genius” is all in the improvising.
“I improvise everything because I can’t read,” he revealed.
The cast has been working on the Madagascar movies for almost 10 years, and most now have young children of their own. When asked what her kids think of the franchise, Pinkett Smith told Curry that her musically inclined son liked the latest movie so much he wanted to contribute a song to the soundtrack.
“I was actually really flattered that he thinks it’s so cool,” she said.
Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted hits theaters on June 8. Check out the full interview above.
