Stephen Colbert thanked President Obama for a “magical evening” at the White House State Dinner on last night’s episode of “The Colbert Report,” showing off the menu and his table place card with the White House Seal.
Colbert was seated next to Michelle Obama at the dinner, a seat typically reserved for the visiting leader’s spouse. Since French President Francois Hollande went solo, Colbert was placed in the seat, and reasoned that he must be the first lady of France.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m the first lady of France! Merci!” Colbert exclaimed, before brandishing a baguette and a cigarette. “Nation, this is so much responsibility.”
Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman was also in attendance, along with other entertainment leaders and A-list celebrities such as Bradley Cooper and Mary J. Blige.
