Top 3 Reasons We’re Dying To See ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’

by Tiffany Knighten, Viacom

Hong Kong has been invaded by the Decepticons, and the mainland is next.

The much-anticipated fourth installment of Paramount Picture’s Transformers franchise smashes onto the big screen this Friday, June 27th and critics are saying the robots look better than ever. Although the release of the official trailer has us on the edge of our seats, we want more. Here are the top 3 reasons we can’t wait any longer for the film’s release:

1. A Dynamic Cast
This $210 million production directed by Michael Bay features a star-studded cast that breathes new life into the iconic Transformers series. An automobile mechanic (Mark Wahlberg) and his daughter (Nicola Peltz) stumble across a deactivated Optimus Prime that brings the Autobots, Decepticons and suspicious government officials down on them.  The film also features Stanley Tucci, Li Bingbing, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, T. J. Miller, Jack Reynor and Titus Welliver in supporting roles.

2. A Gleaming Hong Kong Backdrop

Transformers: Age of Extinction held its world premiere in Hong Kong where the film’s stars graced the red carpet right outside of Hong Kong’s Cultural Center last Thursday night.

A co-production between the U.S. and China, Age of Extinction uses the colorful Hong Kong skyline as the locale for a majority of the flick. Last month, Viacom’s President and CEO Philippe Dauman predicted that the film will set a box office record in China.

3. The unveiling of the Dinobots

We can’t wait to see our favorite machines match up for more skyscraper-bashing action, but this summer is all about the Dinobots breaking ground. These mechanical dinosaurs that first appeared in the original Transformers cartoon series in 1984 are given the proper big screen debut while bringing some nostalgia to long-time Transformers fans.
