AV Technology Magazine recently announced the creation of the “Out of the Box Award” to recognize something that “sets a new standard of immersive, customized, interactive digital signage with specific benefits for tech managers and operations managers.” The big winner of the magazine’s inaugural award? The lobby of Viacom’s newly renovated Time Square headquarters.
In a series of smaller rollouts over the past year, the building at 1515 Broadway revealed its redesigned lobby, which includes 16 55-inch LG Super Narrow Bezel video wall panels that constantly run content from Viacom’s popular brands or employee announcements, a new event space dubbed “The White Box” which is already a popular destination for company events, two 12-by-24-foot LED curtains that display “digital wallpaper,” and much more.
The newly constructed system that powers the Viacom lobby also has the potential to sync with other Viacom locations around the world as the company redesigns more of its spaces.
“The goal of the Viacom project team was to provide eye-popping technology that would create a unique media experience for employees and visitors alike, combining channel branding with the artistic talents of Viacom’s industry-leading creative teams,” said Mike Bivona, vice president of broadcast and production engineering for Viacom Media Networks.
