Travelling to New York City soon? Need a kid-friendly dinner recommendation? Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael have got you covered. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles love their city more than anything else—except maybe pizza. That’s why they are the official New York City Family Ambassadors.
“We’re excited to enlist the help of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, four dynamic and adventurous New Yorkers, to welcome family travelers to NYC,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company, who have partnered with Nickelodeon for the new, yearlong campaign.
The turtles are used to fighting crime in New York, and now they’re here to lead the way on the most family-friendly activities in the five boroughs. The campaign is tailored to each turtle’s personalities, with itineraries that follow their interests.
- Michelangelo’s New York is all about food and fun. He recommends Coney Island, 5050 Skatepark, Gotham Comedy Club, and more for the adventurous traveler. If you’re hungry after an afternoon at the skate park and a night of laughter, go for some experimental cuisine at Momufuku Milk Bar or Oddfellows.
- Leonardo wants to show off New York’s landmarks—after all, monuments and retreats are perfect for the brave, thoughtful traveler in your family. Leonardo recommends checking out the Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum, Empire State Building, Socrates Sculpture Park, and more.
- If you’re anything like Donatello, you won’t want to miss the scientific encounters New York has to offer. He recommends the Lowline Lab, an underground park built out an old trolley terminal on the Lower East Side, as well as the American Museum of Natural History and the New York Hall of Science.
- The nature buff in your family isn’t left out on this urban trip. Raphael’s New York includes destinations like the Bronx Zoo, and Lefrak Center at Lakeside. Raphael understands the need to run around and play. If you’re anything like this turtle, spend some time rock climbing or taking batting practice at Chelsea Piers.
Even if you can’t make it to New York, you won’t miss out on the excitement. The turtles are coming to theaters everywhere on June 3, with the premiere of Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
