Kids Programming, VH1, Award Shows Highlight Earnings for America’s Largest Cable Family

by Stuart Winchester, Viacom
Viacom released third quarter 2016 earnings on Thursday, Aug. 4. Nickelodeon and VH1 are surging in ratings as VIMN continues to expand and our brands reel in Emmy nominations, helping to affirm our place as the leading cable network in America, with 21.1 percent of all viewership concentrated on its networks.

While each of Viacom’s networks has its strengths, Nickelodeon continues to stand out as the absolute leader in kids’ programming, commanding 40 percent of market share among children between ages 2 and 11.

The strength of Viacom’s overall portfolio is perhaps best captured by examining the sheer diversity, ubiquity, and cultural relevance of its award shows. From Jesse William’s moving speech at the BET Awards to the stirring post-Orlando tribute to the LGBT community that was Logo’s Trailblazer Honors, our network’s tentpole events are reeling in record viewership as they stoke conversations around the issues at the center of our culture.
