Centric ‘Soul Train’ Gains Steam

As Monday’s Content Distribution and Marketing strategy meeting came to a close, Ashley Culp, Centric’s vice president of Partner Marketing, got a little excited. 

“Centric started out as the little engine that could, and now we’re a big revved up Soul Train,” he said.

Culp’s got a point. The 24-hour channel for African-American and multicultural adult viewers continues to steadily pick up steam. Since the network launched in 2009, Centric has posted year-over-year growth in every successive quarter, and last year ranked among the top 10 for fastest growing cable networks.

Setting the Scene @ Rip The Runway

BET once again proved that we know how to put on a show with our eighth annual Rip The Runway taping at Hammerstein Ballroom last night.

As soon as the red carpet opened, R&B crooner Robin Thicke sauntered through, flashing his “make the girls swoon” smile. The photographers went wild over Estelle, as rappers Wale and Meek Mill talked all things hip-hop. As Lil’ Kim approached the carpet with her famous entourage, the press “ooh-ed” and “ahh-ed” at her hair, outfit and the overall emergence of everyone’s favorite Queen Bee.
