RuPaul’s Drag Race – The VH1 show that he hosts – was also nominated for Best Reality Competition Series. Since moving to VH1 from sister network Logo last year, Drag Race has amassed an even larger and more diverse fan base—driving it from cult LGBT favorite to mainstream darling.
Viacom’s other Critics’ Choice nominees included TV Land’sYounger (Sutton Foster, Best Actress in a Comedy Series) and MTV’sTeen Mom (Best Unstructured Reality Series).

The Critics’ Choice win follows a string of recent successes for RuPaul. In September, he won his second Emmy at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards—for top host, with Drag Race earning an additional two Emmys for its Oh. My. Gaga. episode.

Best Actress in a Comedy Series – Sutton Foster, Younger– TV Land
Season four of Younger lifted off where season three stopped: Liza strafing Kelsey with the news that they are not fellow Snapchatting millennial strivers after all, on account of L being 40-plus with a kid in college and a divorced ex-husband rambling about somewhere in suburban New Jersey.
So Kelsey storms off. And Charles’ estranged wife emerges from exile with a tell-all book about their marriage even as he and Liza seem to be toeing toward some sort of inevitable for-real romance. And Josh – seemingly recovered from busting up Liza and Charles’ proposal-ruining makeout session at the end of last season – summons L to Ireland, where he intends to marry his girlfriend of one month, whom Liza had introduced him to.
And viewers loved it. More viewers than ever before, actually: Younger’s fourth season was the highest-rated and most-watched in series history, with double-digit percentage increases versus season three among key demos. Even more impressive, the show was the number one original ad-supported cable sitcom so far this year with women 18-49 and women 25-54. Fans pushed #YoungerTV to trend on Twitter all 12 weeks that new episodes aired.
All those fans will be pleased that TV Land has already committed to season five. And with season four ending with a cliffhanger of a missed call to Liza from Charles, some speculate that their romance may finally start blossoming. Show creator Darren Star hinted at as much in an interview with Hollywood Reporter’s Jackie Strause.
“There is a lot of story to tell there,” he said. “As writers, we’re invested in Liza and Charles’ story but at the same time, it’s not an open and honest relationship yet. There’s a lot at stake for Liza being truthful with Charles.”
The Younger crew visited Ireland for the season four finale.
A confession from Liza to Charles would, of course, crack open the central premise of the show, as her real age would be apparent to all of the main characters. But Star doesn’t think the show’s longevity is tied to Liza perpetually keeping her secret.
Liza (Sutton Foster) has exposed herself as an acting-26-but-actually-40 fraud to best bud Kelsey (Hilary Duff). And she has been exposed to boyfriend Josh (Nico Tortorella), who was going to propose to her anyway, until he caught her making out with her boss (Peter Hermann).
And that is where we were left at the end of season three of Younger, TV Land’s hit original that is so good that it’s already been renewed for two more seasons. So where will Liza go and what will she do (and who will she do it with), now that her original lie has sprawled and spiraled into such a New York-sized mess?
The season four trailer, released late last week by TV Land, gives us plenty of teasers suggesting how things may go for her:
The return of Liza (Sutton Foster), Josh (Nico Tortorella), Charles (Peter Mermann), Kelsey (Hilary Duff), Maggie (Debi Mazar), and the rest of the cast is just the latest great news to roll out of TV Land: its hit show Teachershas logged ratings records in its second season; its newest premiere, Nobodies, has already signed on for another run; and Lopez, starring George Lopez just came back for season number two.
Last time we saw Liza, a 40-something masquerading as a twenty-something corporate striver, she had just confessed her true age to friend and coworker Kelsey and blown up her relationship with her sometime-boyfriend and local tattoo artist Josh, who aborted an engagement proposal when he caught her kissing Charles, who happens to be her boss.

Debi Mazar, one of the stars of TV Land’s hit Younger, appeared alongside Niels Schuurmans, executive vice president of Viacom Velocity, to accept the award on the company’s behalf.
“I am so proud to see Viacom mobilize the voice and reach of its channels to take action in breaking down the shame and stigma around addiction and address it for what it is – a health issue,” Mazar said. “Media has the power to change hearts and minds. And LISTEN is doing that one story and conversation at a time.”
LISTEN also took top honors in the Branded Campaign for a TV Series or Special Programming category.
Logo earned a pair of honors. The network’s stirringTrailblazer Honors ceremony served as a tribute to victims of the Orlando nightclub massacre and took the Philanthropic/Human Rights Campaign category, while its Fill in the Blank push around Pride Month earned best Branded Campaign for a Digital or Mobile Platform.
BET Networks also took two categories. Its HBCU (historically black colleges and universities) Snapchat tour earned best Digital Media Campaign:
While the network’s understated Vote Your Voice spots earned top Hash Tag Promotion:
Viacom International Media Networks earned the last two honor, in the Public Service Announcement and Best Spot (30 Seconds or Less) categories, both for Nickelodeon’sTogether for Good collaboration with UNICEF, which works to protect disadvantaged children around the world.
People’s Choice recently announced the nominees for the 43rd edition of the classic awards show, and four Viacom favorites are on the list. TV Land’s hit original series, Younger is up for favorite cable TV comedy, while Hilary Duff, who plays millennial Kelsey Peters on the show, is nominated as favorite cable TV actress. Comedy Central is represented as well, with Workaholics star Adam Devine up for favorite cable TV actor, and South Park – which is in the midst of a hugely popular 20th season – is up for favorite animated TV show.
